Overview

"Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa" is a captivating thriller starring Kelly Rowland and Trevante Rhodes, revolving around a criminal defense attorney's entanglement with a seductive artist accused of murder. The film's intense narrative of desire and danger provided Nottingham Agency with a unique opportunity to create experiential activations that would resonate with local moviegoers and top-tier women influencers.

Challenge

Nottingham faced the challenge of capturing the essence of "Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa" and engaging audiences in a meaningful way. Additionally, the agency aimed to create activations that would appeal to both the local community and influential individuals within the entertainment industry.

Solution

To meet the challenges presented by Netflix, Nottingham devised two distinct events tailored to the themes and audience of "Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa." The first event, a sip and paint experience held in Chicago, seamlessly intertwined the worlds of eroticism and art, fostering a connection with the local community while staying true to the film's narrative. This event provided attendees with an immersive experience, allowing them to engage creatively while experiencing the film's themes firsthand.

For the second event, Nottingham Agency organized the "Hey Queen" dinner, a celebration of Kelly Rowland's debut leading role in the film. The guest list was carefully curated to include Kelly's peers in music and acting, fostering an exclusive and intimate atmosphere. Additionally, a portrait studio by renowned photographer Raven B was featured, adding an element of elegance and sophistication to the event.

Outcome

The two activations orchestrated by Nottingham Agency proved to be highly successful. The sip and paint event in Chicago garnered significant attention, accumulating over 956,100 social media impressions and yielding a social media value of over $44,272. Notable guests, including actors from "The Chi" and "Power: Force," further amplified the event's impact and reach. Similarly, the "Hey Queen" dinner exceeded expectations, boasting an impressive 91% attendance rate and generating over 418,375,600 social media impressions. The event's exclusive guest list, which included prominent figures such as Jennifer Hudson, Janelle Monae, Andra Day, Victoria Monet, Coco Jones, and Sheryl Lee Ralph, contributed to its success. The curated portrait studio by photographer Raven B added an element of glamour, elevating the overall experience for attendees.
